Jeremy Birchall (ARCO ARCM). Jeremy's singing career has taken him to concert halls and opera houses across Europe. He’s worked at Covent Garden, English and Welsh National Opera, and with many groups specialising in early and contemporary music including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Singers, the Tallis Scholars, Polyphony and the Sixteen. His unusually low voice has been used in many John Tavener pieces. Particularly memorable were ‘The Apocalypse’ at the Proms, the 7-hour ‘The Veil of the Temple’ in New York, Amsterdam and at the Proms and ‘Theophany’, where his multi-tracked and transposed low notes sounded like a huge pack of whales. In recent years he has been involved with the vocal crossover group, The Shout, where his contributions are just as likely to be heard from the roof of the Royal Festival Hall or a crane in Stuttgart harbour by crowds of thousands as by audiences in theatres or concert halls.
